Your table. Your terms. Now with funding.
God entrusted the training of children to parents — not the government. The EFTC removes financial barriers to home education while fiercely protecting your family's freedom to teach from a biblical worldview.

Support without interference
Accepting an EFTC scholarship changes nothing about your curriculum, your mission, or your authority over your home. Because funds come from private contributions to a Scholarship Granting Organization — not direct government spending — your right to choose materials that align with a biblical worldview is respected.

EFTC + 529: a complete home-education funding ecosystem
Recent federal law (the OBBBA) transformed 529 plans for homeschooling families — and EFTC scholarships are designed to work alongside them.
Expanded 529 limits
Withdraw up to $20,000 per year from a 529 plan for K–12 expenses — double the previous $10,000 limit.
Homeschool costs now included
Curriculum, tutoring, and instructional tools — previously disqualified — are now eligible 529 expenses.
Strategic stacking
Stack EFTC scholarships with 529 funds and state-level choice programs, as long as combined funding doesn't exceed your total qualified expenses.
Three standards, starting January 1, 2027
Legal enrollment status
Your children must be of the age and legal status allowed to enroll in a public elementary or secondary school.
Income threshold
Household gross income must not exceed 300% of your Area Median Gross Income (AMGI) as defined by HUD. If your area's median is $70,000, you could earn up to $210,000 and still qualify.
Verification
Eligibility is based on your household income from the federal tax return of the calendar year before you apply.
Income limits vary by where you live, because the cost of living does too. Provide last year's tax return and we handle the calculation for you.

“Are there strings attached?” — the honest answers
Our program is built on the principle of support without interference. Here are the questions homeschool families ask most.
Does accepting these funds mean the government can choose my curriculum?
No. The EFTC is designed to be curriculum-neutral. Because scholarships are funded by private contributions to an SGO rather than direct government spending, your right to choose materials that align with a biblical worldview is respected. You keep full authority over the what and howof your child's education.
Will I be required to change how I report to the state?
No. The EFTC does not alter existing state homeschool laws. You continue following the notification, testing, or portfolio requirements already established in your state. The SGO only needs documentation that funds were spent on qualified educational expenses as defined by federal law.
Is my family's data safe and private?
Yes. Our online portal uses industry-standard encryption to protect your tax and enrollment information, and your data is used strictly for eligibility verification and scholarship administration. We never sell or share family data with outside marketing or government agencies beyond what tax compliance legally requires.
What if I switch from a co-op to full home instruction?
The scholarship follows the student, not the institution. Adjust your educational approach as your child's needs change — as long as the new expenses fall under the qualified categories, your funding remains secure.
Is Renew Scholarships an approved SGO for federal tax credits?
Yes. Renew Scholarships is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating as a Scholarship Granting Organization under the EFTC. Approval happens state by state: a state opts in and lists its certified SGOs with the U.S. Treasury each year. We are actively pursuing inclusion in the 28+ states that have signaled intent to participate (as of March 2026), and we already meet the IRS's multi-ledger accounting and 90/10 expenditure requirements.
How is '300% of Area Median Gross Income' calculated?
Income limits vary by location because the cost of living varies. If your area's median income is $70,000, your household could earn up to $210,000 and still qualify. Once you provide your prior-year tax return, we handle the calculation for you.
